The map shows the total area threatened by the sea.To flood the area shown most of the sea defenses would need to be breached. A more likely scenario would be shorter but deeper breaks leading to flooding contained
by road, railway and canal embankments.
Nonetheless, with Walland and Denge Marshes behind them, Dungeness Nuclear Power Stations are isolated.
The position of the Power Station site is interesting. A close up of that part of the Department map shows it to be abutting the expected flood limit, with the most westerly of its buildings, the Switch House, being very close to the floodplain.The map leaves a question unanswered.
Why do the Power Stations need such massive sea defences if they are not under threat of flooding?
