Edwina Boyt, Conservative Candidate, Folkestone Park Ward

DUNGENESS No, I don't support new build without solving waste problems.

RENEWABLE ENERGY I 100% support the Romney Marsh wind farm proposal and I honestly do not see what the NIMBYS are complaining about. I think wind farms look rather attractive.

GM FOODS Dead against

EMERGENCY PLANS Can't comment as I don't know enough about it but would like to come to one of your meetings and find out more.

OPERATION STACK Ditto

CYCLING Yes. We seem to have some very nice cycle routes already. If I had a better bike I would use them! As for budget priority, all the people I have been speaking to think their cases are budget priorities, ie wheelchair ramps, traffic, calming, anti social behaviour etc. etc. etc!! The same people are angry about the council tax rises!
I think buses should be made more user friendly. ie cheaper and more frequent and I favour car sharing schemes such as they have in the states.

RECYCLING    I am a recycling freak!!
My wheelie bin only needs to go out once a month and I can't understand why people are moaning about them not being big enough. We have numerous well placed bottle banks, which do not require a special car journey. Some don't need a car at all. If only people could be bothered to use them. The Shorncliffe tip is excellent although I appreciate, not convenient for everyone.
Kerbside recycling certainly needs to be given some consideration.
SDC are introducing green sacks for garden waste in June.
They are also looking at ways to introduce kerbside plastic recycling. The bottles are the problem.
I have just restarted saving my plastic for collection by The Hospice who take it to Hawkinge. I have also helped organise a paper collection scheme in our village for the same charity.
Hope this is helpful.

Regards Edwina Boyt.
