DUNGENESS
Do you support new build at Dungeness power station even though the industry has not solved its waste problems?
I do not support new build at Dungeness, more effort should be put into renewable energy.

RENEWABLE ENERGY
Do you welcome wind farms in the district? Should the government be urged to do more to develop all forms of renewable energy - eg subsidising national grid connections?
Yes wind farms should be used, preferably off shore.

GM FOODS
Are you aware that over the next year or so the Government will decide whether to allow GM crops to be commercially grown across the UK? Do you have any concerns?
I was not aware of the Government's plans on GM crops, and yes I am very concerned. There is, I believe, a lot of evidence of cross pollination over considerable distances. I grow a lot of my own veg. It tastes much nicer than anything in the shops.

EMERGENCY PLAN
The government has made local authorities near nuclear power stations responsible for drawing up plans to protect the public in a nuclear emergency. Do you know what Shepway's local emergency plan is, and do you think that potassium iodate tablets should be available to everyone in the district?
I have been told that Shepway does have an Emergency Plan and that it is periodically exercised. I don't know what it is and think the public maybe should be made aware of it.

CYCLING
Do you support safe sensible cycle routes to schools and town centres? Would you make this a budget priority?
Yes I support safe cycling routes especially to schools. Where possible, off road, there's far too much traffic to be safe. I believe this funding comes from County Council's budget though. For young children I think the walking bus is a much safer option.

OPERATION STACK
Do you have any alternative solutions to the underlying problems caused by HGV's on our motorways?
This I think is usually caused by strikes or the like over the channel, it should be made illegal to blockade Calais. I do not think a huge lorry park should be built.

RECYCLING
Is Shepway doing enough?
Recycling in Shepway, I don't think it is taken seriously, we dabble in it. Most things we throw away can be recycled. Unless you have door step collections people will not recycle.
