You have asked for my reponse to the proposed airport expansion. I am not in favour of anything spoiling the natural beauty of Romney Marsh. I do not think in view of the reduction in staff at the airport that there is any possibility of quality jobs being made available at the airport. In relation to the power station, this one is more difficult to answer as we do not yet have all the facts available. I do believe that the decision for Dungeness C will be made at national government level and all objections will be ignored by whatever government is in power when the decision is made. However I do worry that if the power station goes so does Romney Marsh as I do not believe the sea defences will be maintained. It ia a devil and a deep blue sea dilemma. I have tried my best to answer your letter and hope that my reponse is satisfactory to you. Yours sincerely, Carole Hawkins.
