STEPHEN MAKINS

Thank you for your delightful letter concerning environmental issues at this time in history.

My opinions on the Lydd Airport saga are twofold. Firstly, it is obvious that the local population that have made the effort to vote, and therefore voicing their opinion, have returned a resounding NO. Therefore, being involved in local politics, one should support fully the residents of Lydd.

However, watching Breakfast TV this morning: BBC1 (I think) stated that 25 jobs were to be lost at Lydd Airport. This may have a detrimental effect on the economy of Lydd, and one should recognise those that support the expansion may, economically have a point to make. Further discussions should be made, involving both parties, to hopefully resolve this ongoing drama.

Concerning Dungeness C power station, one may have the opinion that nuclear power, like democracy, is the worst of all systems, except for the rest.

Any opinion offered in this piece of written work is purely subjective.

Yours sincerely
