Dungeness It was wrong for the government to attempt to bail out the nuclear industry and shows that the industry as a whole is uneconomical. Nuclear waste disposal is a great problem and shows that the industry cannot cope. It is dangerous to continue along the road of nuclear electrical power generation.

Renewable Energy
Investigations and developments of all forms of renewable energy should be encouraged. Wind farms are proving to be worthy of serious consideration but equally, sensitivity of placement should also be undertaken.

GM Foods I have great concerns about the use of GM crops particularly to the problems of cross-pollination. It is essential that isolation distances between GM and other crops are increased. More investigations should take place before considering commercial cultivation.

Emergency Plan I am aware that Shepway D.C. has an Emergency Plan.
Potassium iodate tablets distribution should be encompassed within the plan.

Cycling Safe and sensible cycle routes should be greatly encouraged. Pollution from vehicles would decrease, roads become safer, people remain fit. Cycling is an excellent way to travel. I would explore all possible methods of funding.

Operation Stack I would oppose any construction for a lorry park that uses green land. Lorries should be warned that they will be turned around at Folkestone and made to return to London if they insist on travelling to the channel ports when there is no way of crossing the channel. I support the development of freight trains services within the UK and onwards to the continent.

Recycling No, Shepway is not doing enough.
The 'Wheelie Bin', used on its own, is the enemy of household recycling. All household waste is put into it without regard for segregation. Development of a household waste recycling scheme is a top priority, especially with regard to plastic waste-

1 hope these brief statements go some way to answering your questions.
