KEN & SYLVIA OILLER

The proposed development at Lydd would be environmental vandalism of the highest order.

Plus the adverse effect on the peace and quiet of the area which we now enjoy and of course the inevitable damage to tourism this proposal will have makes it a resounding NO from me.

The promised jobs will not materialise and what we stand to lose in exchange for a few low paid , unsustainable jobs is too great .
I was of this opinion when on Lydd TC and this proposal was first aired, many Cllrs wanted a "blank cheque" of approval right then before any details were known.

Green Tourism is the way forward, other parts of the country depend on utilising their natural assets, historical, environmental etc and have thriving economies. Better public transport would help workers to get to Ashford which is the growth town.

Although not a real fan of nuclear power I do think that another station would produce many jobs both skilled and unskilled. The infrastructure is in place and no protected habitat would be damaged.

I doubt that a decision to build another complex would be down to District level furthermore since the original stations were built on a receding shoreline totally ignoring local knowledge I fear this again would be a battle already decided.
That is not to say I have grave doubts regarding such a development.
