Lydd Airport

I fully support having a Public Enquiry so that everyone’s point of view can be recorded. It has already been arranged for the full council at Shepway to debate the planning application instead of just the Development Control Committee. There will be a new Code of Conduct for councillors, it will come into force on 3rd May 2007 which will remove barriers to councillors speaking up for their constituents. As I am a Lydd District Councillor I will speak up for the majority I represent. As to ‘quality jobs’ this would only materialise if the expansion went ahead.

Dungeness C Nuclear Power Station

The likelihood of another Power Station at Dungeness is very much a lottery. As a SSG member I understand Dungeness is sixth of the list of proposed possible sites and one would not expect the government to build that many nuclear power stations as the policy is a mixture of power sources. As for the rising sea levels there is no evidence of Hythe and Rye Bay getting any higher, in fact the evidence points towards them getting shallower.
