Anti nuclear dumping campaign against Rolls Royce Marine Power in Crich in Derbyshire

http://communityconcern.g2gm.com/

Community Concern is a group formed in 1998. It represents communities living in and around Cardiff, the capital city of Wales, UK.

Cardiff has been called, 'Tritium City' by Friends of the Earth because of the high levels of tritium and other radioactive isotopes discharged into the environment by Nycomed Amersham (NA) plc Cardiff site. This nuclear site is in North Cardiff, a highly populated city. Apart from discharging to the air and sewers, NA have a radioactive store on the flood plains of the river Taff, which runs through Cardiff to the Severn Estuary. Tritium, Carbon 14 and Iodine 125 are the three most common nuclides discharged from the Cardiff site

Cricklewood Against Nuclear Transports (CANT)

BNFL announced early 1998 that it plans to move its marshalling yard from Willesden Junction just up the road to Cricklewood. But instead of telling local residents, it made the announcement in the Sellafield newsletter. It also managed to write to the wrong Borough Council and the wrong MP. Within days Cricklewood residents had set up Cricklewood Against Nuclear Trains (Can't) which has since become a high profile campaign with its own website.

Nuclear Free Local Authorities

Nuclear Free Local Authorities began in Manchester with a declaration ofthe City Council on 5 November 1980 to work to eliminate the threat of nuclear weapons. The City declared itself a 'Nuclear Free Zone' and called on other local governments in the North West of England to do the same.
The mission statement of the Nuclear Free Local Authorities' National Steering Committee in the 1990s reads as follows:
"The Committee is convinced that nuclear weapons and energy systems present extraordinary and unacceptable risks to the planet and its people; it works for a nuclear free future in practical ways within local government."

Scotland Against Nuclear Dumping

SAND is a consortium of local groups which campaign for responsible radioactive waste management in Scotland. Radioactive waste which our generation has created will be a hazard for the rest of time, and it is important that it is stored safely and under proper supervision in order that it does not seep into water courses, land and sea, contaminating the basic necessities of life for future generations. We believe that we should deal with the waste we have created in a responsible way and that other nations should do the same. SAND provides information on issues involving radioactive waste and campaigns to stop irresponsible actions by a nuclear industry which seems hell-bent on sweeping the problems it has created under the carpet and leaving future generations to suffer the consequences.

THE NUCLEAR CONTROL INSTITUTE

Founded in 1981, the Nuclear Control Institute (NCI) is an independent research and advocacy center specializing in problems of nuclear proliferation. Non-partisan and non-profit, we monitor nuclear activities worldwide and pursue strategies to halt the spread and reverse the growth of nuclear arms. In particular, we focus on the urgency of eliminating atom-bomb materials ---plutonium and highly enriched uranium---from civilian nuclear power and research programs.

We're small. We're powerful. We're anti-nuclear. We are grass-root oriented. And we are proud of what we have achieved. We are anxious to go on, serving the people with important information and skills.

We exist since 1978; in a small office with only six people working at WISE International, of whom only one is paid.
