DODEWAARD NUCLEAR POWER
STATION HOLLAND

14th December 2000
Spent fuel from the now closed power station is sent to Sellafield UK for reprocessing causing radioactive pollution to the ground, sea and air and is the most likely cause of leukaemia clusters in the nearby town of Seascale.

In order to stop a spent fuel shipment leaving the plant KARE attempts to blockade a bridge which is the only access to Dodewaard nuclear power station.
Unfortunately it is thwarted by road blocks and a massive police presence never seen before.
Two men, however, managed to get our banner

KARE banner just 25m from the bridge

KARE join GP Netherlands and, dressed in Dutch police uniforms and using a second hand police riot vehicle, pass thro' 3 roadblocks and manage to cross the bridge and blockade the gates to the power station!

EC BUILDING - BRUSSELS - 15th December 1993
Protestors from all over Europe gathered amidst rain and hailstones outside the EC building where a meeting of EC environment ministers was in progress. A delegation was sent requesting the ministers hear our protests with respect to the proposed opening of the THORP reprocessing plant. They were initially refused that demand until an extremely loud wailing siren was used to such a level that those inside the building could not hear each other speak. The request was accepted and our protests were entered into the minutes of their meeting.
